RigAdvisor policies

Terms of Service

These terms explain what RigAdvisor provides, what we ask of customers, and the limits of our PC consulting services.

Effective and last updated September 30, 2026

1. Agreement to these terms

These Terms of Service form an agreement between you and RigAdvisor (“RigAdvisor,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). They apply when you use rigadvisor.build, submit a consultation, access a customer account, communicate with an advisor, or purchase a service. By submitting a request or purchasing a service, you confirm that you can enter into this agreement and accept these terms.

2. Our services

RigAdvisor provides independent PC hardware research and consulting. The exact deliverables, timing, price, and service limits shown when you choose a plan are part of these terms.

  • Build Check: a review of one complete parts list supplied by you; it does not include creating a new custom list.
  • Custom Build Plan: one personalized parts-list recommendation based on your submitted profile.
  • Priority Advisor Chat: asynchronous messaging about one defined build, upgrade, or troubleshooting goal during the stated service window.
  • Scheduled Consultation: one scheduled 60-minute consultation and the stated written deliverables.

Included follow-up access is limited to the scope, number of messages, and time window displayed with the selected service. New builds, major budget changes, and unrelated troubleshooting may require a new consultation.

3. Your information and responsibilities

You agree to provide accurate, complete information about your goals, budget, location, existing hardware, software, display, and other requirements. Recommendations depend on the information available when we prepare them. You remain responsible for confirming current prices, stock, taxes, shipping, retailer terms, manufacturer specifications, case clearances, firmware requirements, and safe installation before purchasing or assembling components.

You may not use the service to submit unlawful, abusive, infringing, malicious, or deceptive content; interfere with the site; impersonate another person; or attempt to access another customer’s account or consultation.

4. Accounts and communications

Customer access may use password-free sign-in links sent to the email address you provide. You are responsible for controlling access to that email account and for notifying us if you believe a link or account has been compromised. You consent to service-related emails needed to deliver your consultation, receipt, report, scheduling information, advisor replies, or account access. Optional browser push notifications require separate permission from your browser.

5. Prices and payment

Prices are displayed before checkout. Paid transactions are processed by Stripe; RigAdvisor does not receive or store your complete payment-card number. Taxes, if legally required, may be added at checkout. A consultation is not paid until Stripe confirms payment. Scheduled services may also require you to select and confirm an available time through Cal.com.

6. Cancellations and refunds

Our Cancellation & Refund Policy is incorporated into these terms. It explains when pending consultations can be deleted, when a paid service is eligible for cancellation or refund, and the rules for advisor chat and scheduled appointments.

7. Retailers, affiliate links, and third-party services

Recommendations may link to independent retailers. Some links may earn RigAdvisor a commission at no additional cost to you, as explained in our Affiliate Disclosure. Compensation does not determine which products we recommend. RigAdvisor is not the seller of linked hardware and is not responsible for retailer inventory, fulfillment, warranties, returns, product pages, or pricing errors.

The site also relies on third-party services such as Stripe, Cal.com, Supabase, Vercel, and email or notification providers. Their separate terms and privacy practices apply when you use their services.

8. Hardware information and changing conditions

Hardware prices, availability, product revisions, BIOS support, game requirements, benchmarks, and manufacturer specifications can change quickly. Recommendations are prepared in good faith using the information reasonably available at the time, but we cannot guarantee a particular price, stock level, benchmark result, acoustics level, overclock, lifespan, or future compatibility.

RigAdvisor uses reasonable care to evaluate compatibility and expected performance using the customer information, manufacturer specifications, retailer data, and other information reasonably available when the recommendation is prepared. Recommendations are advisory and do not guarantee error-free compatibility, physical fit, firmware support, performance, acoustics, reliability, or suitability for every configuration. Results may differ because of product revisions, substitutions, manufacturing tolerances, BIOS or firmware versions, software changes, installation, environmental conditions, or incomplete or inaccurate customer information.

RigAdvisor does not perform physical assembly, electrical work, data recovery, or warranty service. Installation and troubleshooting can damage components or data if performed incorrectly. Follow manufacturer instructions and use a qualified technician when appropriate.

9. Intellectual property

The site, branding, original editorial content, report format, and service materials belong to RigAdvisor or its licensors. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive right to use the report and recommendations delivered for your own build or purchasing decisions. You may not resell, republish, scrape, or commercially redistribute them without written permission.

10. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, the site and services are provided “as is” and “as available.” We disclaim implied warranties that cannot reasonably apply to an advisory service, including guarantees of uninterrupted access or error-free third-party data. Nothing in these terms excludes warranties or rights that cannot legally be excluded.

To the extent permitted by law, RigAdvisor is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, lost data, lost profits, or damage caused by purchasing, installing, modifying, or using third-party hardware. RigAdvisor’s total liability arising from a paid service will not exceed the amount you paid for that service. This limitation does not apply where prohibited by law or to liability resulting from fraud, willful misconduct, or gross negligence.

If a paid recommendation contains a material compatibility error attributable to RigAdvisor, our obligation will be limited, at our discretion and where permitted by law, to correcting the recommendation, providing a reasonable substitute, reperforming the affected service, or refunding the amount paid for that service. RigAdvisor does not reimburse hardware costs, price differences, shipping, restocking fees, assembly labor, lost data, or other third-party expenses except where required by law.

11. Changes and contact

We may update these terms as the service changes. The date above identifies the current version. Material changes apply prospectively unless the law requires otherwise.
